Minister Jaczek Welcomed at WPS Campus

On Thursday, May 25th Canadore College’s West Parry Sound Campus had the pleasure of co-hosting a Reception with Community Living Parry Sound (CLPS) that welcomed Dr. Helena Jaczek, Minister of Community and Social Services. Dr. Jaczek praised CLPS’s successes, local partnerships, and congratulated them on their recent project proposal “Home of their Own” that was approved for funding by the province. Along with local MPP Norm Miller, staff of CLPS, and Canadore College, Dr. Jaczek toured the Parry Sound Community Gardens at Canadore College.
In addition to partnering with CLPS on the Community Gardens, Canadore and CLPS have had other partnership projects, including the Hospitality and Tourism program. Graduates of the program learned skills in customer service, communication, dealing with difficult people, and also received several certifications including First Aid and CPR.
The Minister’s Reception was a wonderful afternoon to celebrate partnerships and our inclusive community.
