International Student Profile – Shubham Sharma

Shubham Sharma holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Construction Project Management. He travelled from India to Canada to enrol in Canadore’s post-graduate Construction Project Management program.
“Pursuing the Construction Project Management program was a deliberate choice aimed at honing my insights into the details of the Canadian construction industry,” he said. However, my early experiences at Canadore underscored the essential role of comprehensive business management knowledge in key leadership positions in the construction sector.”
So, Shubham is now enrolled in the Business Management program. In addition to his studies, Shubham is an International Student Ambassador and a Residence Service Representative.
“My active engagement in college activities has not only enabled my self-development, but also provided me with valuable insights into the Canadian work culture. These experiences have contributed to my financial stability, and facilitated a deeper understanding of teamwork, communication, and culture dynamics within the Canadian context.”
Shubham is achieving high marks in his program, and he credits the curriculum and professors for that.
“The College’s emphasis on practical learning, combined with the unwavering support of exceptional professors, has further nurtured my passion for continuous learning and personal growth.”
Still, his time at Canadore has not been without its challenges.
“As an international student, I faced challenges such as cultural adjustment, weather acclimatization, and adapting to a different academic system,” he said. “Additionally, managing expenses and navigating complex visa and administrative procedures added to the initial hurdles. However, with resilience and determination, I have successfully overcome those challenges, establishing a solid foundation in my academic journey.”
