Harveen Kaur left her home in New Delhi, India, to move to North Bay in September 2022. She is currently enrolled in the Human Resource Management program after obtaining a certificate in the Project Management program.

“As an immigrant, when you land in a new place, you must get out of your comfort zone,” said student Harveen Kaur. “Canadore’s International Department has helped me with knowledge about the right kind of clothing for the weather conditions, various intercultural activities, the currency system, and immigration guidance.”

“We have limited time in our lives, and it should not be wasted on things that don’t make you follow your dreams. I like to work at work which is worth doing,” she said.

Harveen spends a lot of time on campus in various roles. She is working as a Community Connector at The Village and leading the Learning to Live Fit speaker series. She is working as a Residence Advisor in the off-campus residence on Commercial Street. In October, she was elected by her peers to the College’s Board of Governors.

“It is a great privilege for me to sit in a room full of experienced people,” said Harveen. “It is going to help me with my career advancement as I am understanding how a business works.”

“Student governor is an opportunity to work with the governing body, using my own experience as a student to help make Canadore a better place for students,” she said.
