Canadore Dental Hygiene Students Achieve 100%

Jun 18, 2018 | Canadore College

Last week brought double the good news for Canadore College dental hygiene students.

In addition to crossing the stage, 100 per cent of the graduating class successfully completed the National Dental Hygiene Certification Exam (NDHCE) administered by the National Dental Hygiene Certification Board. The examination is based on dental hygiene competencies and tests candidates' ability to apply their knowledge as entry-to-practice professionals to solve oral health care problems and answer questions related to dental hygiene practice.

After studying for three years in the advanced diploma program, dental hygiene graduates from across Ontario must also prove their competencies through the national exam before provincial and territorial dental hygiene regulatory authorities will consider granting certification, registration, or licensure to be able to practice professionally.

Professor and program coordinator, Terra Bourre, was thrilled with this year’s results and goes on to say that they mirror Canadore’s results from the past number of years as well.

Canadore College’s dental hygiene students benefit from hands-on clinical practice working with clients in the on-campus dental hygiene clinic, which provides free dental hygiene services to community members. The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada.
