Canadore College to provide a combination of program delivery approaches for Fall 2020

Jun 2, 2020 | Cindy Males, Public Relations and Communications Specialist

Canadore College has announced its academic delivery plan for the Fall 2020 semester classes, to ensure students are prepared and can complete their program requirements in the safest possible way.

“The health and safety of our employees and students have always been our priority, and those standards continue to guide us as we make plans for the Fall semester,” said Canadore President George Burton.

Canadore has decided on three approaches to offer academic instruction to students. The College intends to deliver as many courses remotely, via Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools, as possible.  Courses that cannot be delivered fully remotely will be offered through a blended model with a combination of electronic and online media and face-to-face teaching.  Those courses where remote delivery is not possible will be offered entirely through in-class instruction. Program specific plans as well as important and beneficial information on the various support services available at the College will be communicated to students shortly with continuous updates to follow as needed and when available.

Canadore College has been successfully delivering courses through a combination of in-class and online approach for more than 20 years, in its sports and recreation and part-time study programs.  As many as 500 students every year learn this way.

“We remain committed to the principles of student success and program excellence that Canadore is known for, regardless of how the program instruction will be provided,” said Burton.

Canadore will follow Ontario Government directives regarding requirements for re-opening its campuses.

“If conditions continue to improve in the province, we may look forward to welcoming a limited number of students and employees to our campuses as early as July and increased numbers by September,” said Burton.
