Canadore College Students to Test Skills at Provincial Competition

(NORTH BAY, ONT.) – Four Canadore College students will be heading to the Skills Ontario Competition next week in Toronto, Ont. where they have the chance to demonstrate that they are the best in their field.

Second-year aviation technology – aircraft maintenance and structures students Jay Brocke of Seguin, Ont. and Cassidy Prieur of Amherstburg, Ont. will be competing in the aircraft maintenance postsecondary contest.

Austin Peddie of North Cobalt, Ont., a first-year building construction technician student, will be competing in the individual carpentry postsecondary contest.

First-year machinist student Conor Tierney of Prescott, Ont. is entered into the precision machingin\ postsecondary contest.

This Skills Ontario Competition takes place annually. This year’s competition will be held at the Toronto Congress Centre on May 6-8. Winners are awarded with gold, silver or bronze medals. 

Should Canadore College’s Brocke, Peddie Prieur and/or Tierney qualify at the Ontario competition, they will advance to the Skills Canada National Competition in Halifax, N.S. in June.
