The Ministry of Colleges and Universities has granted Canadore College approval to offer an Honours Bachelor Degree in Advanced Manufacturing Technology Management.  It is Canadore’s first degree.

“This is a significant milestone for Canadore, our community, and post-secondary education,” said Dr. Ahmed Obaide, Canadore’s Vice President Academic.  “We remain committed to designing, developing and delivering market-driven niche academic programs with a focus on applied learning and an eye to the future.”

“The approval of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Management bachelor degree is timely with the increased recognition for the need to refocus on the manufacturing sector, which now relies heavily on technology,” said Obaide.

Students in the program will learn a solid foundation of knowledge and skills required to operate in a modern manufacturing environment by providing a combination of theoretical and hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing technologies, techniques and processes.

“The degree was developed in response to employer demand for the skills the program graduates will have upon completion of their degree,” said Canadore College President and CEO George Burton.  “In addition the degree provides additional pathways for graduates of our technology programs.”

The Innovation Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Prototyping (ICAMP) at the Commerce Court Campus will be available for the technological needs of students in the program, and the College plans to fully equip the Commerce Court labs and make these available to the students.

The program will be launched in Fall 2022.

“This is our first degree at the bachelor level,” said Obaide.  “We will continue to evaluate needs, rethink higher education and pursue opportunities, so it won’t be our last.”
