Financial Supports

Canadore College offers financial assistance and supports to international students through scholarships, bursaries and work opportunities.

International students are encouraged to explore scholarships and bursaries available in your home country. Scholarships are typically awarded based on academic merit or specific abilities, while bursaries are aimed at students meeting specific financial criteria.

There's a good chance you'll discover organizations and companies offering awards for students, especially international ones. You don't have to wait for an acceptance letter to begin searching for scholarships or bursaries in your home country. Although some may require proof of acceptance into a higher education institution, many do not have this prerequisite.

Canadore College's International department and Financial Aid department can help guide students toward a variety of opportunities.

INSTRUCTIONS TO PAY FROM OUTSIDE CANADA
The preferred payment method to Canadore College is through Flywire.

Instructions for making a payment by flywire can be found here: https://www.canadorecollege.ca/canadore-international/international-students/how-to-apply under the section “How do I pay for College?”

To make a payment, continue to canadorecollege.flywire.com:

Canadore College uses Flywire for international payments from accounts outside of Canada. This service provides international students and their families an easy and affordable way to pay tuition and other education costs. Flywire allows you, in most cases, to pay your student fees in your local currency. Flywire offers a Best Price Guarantee – go to flywire.com/priceguarantee for more details.

For payments made outside of Canada, please note that if a refund is required, the funds will be returned to the originating source (i.e. person making the payment).

I am not in Canada, can a family member or friend who is in Canada pay my fees for me?
Yes, payments can be made by online Internet Banking by following instructions showing below.  Please note that refunds for third party payments will take longer to process and will require additional forms to be filled out, to ensure the funds are returned to the source account

INSTRUCTIONS TO PAY FROM WITHIN CANADA
There are several payment options for international students from within Canada:

  • Through On-Line - Internet Banking
    • Add Canadore College as a payee
    • use your student ID number as the "account number."  Be very sure that you are using the correct student ID number
      • allow 3 - 5 business days for your payment to appear on your student account
      • if your payment is not showing on your student account within five business days, contact your bank to investigate

  • Through your Self-Serve Account
    • Self-Service – Log into your Canadore Student Account – instructions provided in link
    • Credit cards and Pre-Paid credit cards

Can I pay with a credit card that does not belong to me?
Canadore College advises students to not make payment with a credit card that does not belong to you or is not in your name.  A chargeback can be requested by the owner of the card at any time (up to 18 months after the payment is made), which we cannot prevent. A chargeback is a charge that is returned to a payment card after the credit card owner successfully disputes an item on their credit card statement. A successful chargeback will result in the payment being removed from the student's account and will be flagged as an account with an outstanding balance.

Using someone else’s credit card is not advisable, as it could result in a chargeback and your offer could be at risk of being revoked.

Examples:

  • Using another person’s credit card for a payment without authorization
  • Presenting a fraudulent receipt
  • Altering any official documents of the college including receipts

If you paid through flywire, you can access your official receipt through your flywire account. This can be used for Immigration purposes.

Should you have paid another way, please request your receipt according to your campus below.

North Bay campuses: Canadore.InternationalAR@canadorecollege.ca
Toronto campuses: studentservices@canadorecollege.ca

They will respond with a receipt only if you did not pay by flywire. Please be patient in receiving a response as the team is receiving an abundance of submissions and is working as quickly as possible to process all requests.

You may view important dates and deadlines here: https://www.canadorecollege.ca/get-started/dates-deadlines

If you are a new student, your LOA will indicate your payments and due dates.

As each student is required to show proof that they have the finances to pay and attend school in Canada, we cannot make accommodations. Payment due dates are listed on your Letter of Acceptance(LOA). Please be sure to comply with the due dates noted on your LOA; your program seat will not be reserved if you do not comply with the payment terms of your LOA.

Only students who have paid their fees in compliance with their LOA will be permitted to register.

Note: The Student Direct Stream (SDS) has specific tuition payment requirements.  Please refer to the website for the most current information: Student Direct Stream (SDS)

Should you feel this is an exceptional circumstance, you may request further investigation into your situation by sending an email to international@canadorecollege.ca

Instructions to apply for each of our scholarships and bursaries can be found on the specific scholarship/bursary’s page:

You may also check with your own country as many may provide scholarships as well.

**Please note that funds are limited and students should prepare to secure funding for their study in advance of attendance.

Please consult the International Student refund policy for full details - see policy below. Refunds are subject to holdbacks dependant on the time and reason of request. The refund process is significantly delayed during this time and could take longer than the usual 6 - 8 weeks. It is important to keep in mind that flywire will need to verify your banking information before they send the refund. You can log into your flywire account to keep updated on any activity. Refunds are processed in accordance to the original method of payment.

Education for Canadian (domestic) students who are studying in Canada is subsidized by the provincial government and its taxpayers. International students do not pay provincial taxes, so they are not eligible for subsidies and must pay the full cost of tuition.

Refunds for Students Paying International Fees to Full-time Programs of Instruction

International Students who submit formal written notification of withdrawal from a full-time program of instruction are entitled to a refund of tuition and ancillary fees in accordance with the following:

Before the 10th day of the current term of study

  1. For Student Visa refusal with proof from Embassy or High Commission, a $300 administrative fee will be applied and the balance of the tuition will be refunded provided that the student can demonstrate that they completed all required steps to obtain their study permit.
  2. Students studying on Approval in Principle (AIP) are permitted to continue to study in subsequent terms. However, students must be aware of the risks relative to this policy. For example, if you are studying on AIP and your Student Visa application is refused, you will be subject to the policy outlined in this letter. Also, if you register for second semester and you receive a Visa refusal prior to the 10th day of the term, you will be eligible for a refund as outlined in paragraph (a) above. If you withdraw and cannot provide evidence of refusal, you will be issued a refund in accordance with the terms in paragraph (c) below. If you withdraw after the 10th day of the term of study, no refund for the term will be issued. However, any fees paid in advance for subsequent terms will be refunded.
  3. For students withdrawing before the 10th day of the current term of study or Student Visa refusal with no proof, refunds will be based on the following formula:
    • Refund = fees paid – ((International Student Tuition Fee ÷ Tuition Fee for Canadian Students) x $500)
  4. International students who do not attend, decide to defer their admission after the start date noted on their Letter of Admission (LOA), or withdraw within 10 business days of the beginning of the semester, shall receive a portion of the full tuition and ancillary fees paid for the semester or program period, calculated according to the following equation:
    • Refund = fees paid – ((International Student Tuition Fee ÷ Tuition Fee for Canadian Students) x $500)

Please note: There will be no refunds after the semester deadline to withdraw

  • If you withdraw after the 10th day of the current term of study, only subsequent semester fees paid in advance will be reimbursed.
  • After the 10th day of the current term of study, International Students shall receive a refund of any tuition and ancillary fees paid in advance for subsequent semesters.
  • This refund policy also applies to students who are attending alternate delivery models.

Please review the important dates and deadlines for Withdrawal and Registration. Payment deadlines for International students are noted on the Letter of Admission.

Complete details are available at https://www.canadorecollege.ca/support/dates-deadlines

*IMPORTANT* Please note:

  • a $300.00 administrative fee is withheld for Visa refusals (with proof).
  • for students withdrawing before the 10thday of class (with no proof of Visa refusal) we withhold the formula method that works out to be $2400 for FALL 2021 and beyond.
  • no refunds are given for withdrawals after the 10thday of class.
